What is over spray?
Over spray is any type of airborne paint or similar substance that lands on a car and sticks to the paint and dries. I.e.: your car is parked near a building that is being painted [sprayed] and the wind carries tiny paint particle s thru the air and the paint attaches itself to the car and dries.
Solution: The paint must be coated with a lubricant, than a special prep bar is gently massaged over the paint. The lubricant is there to set up a barrier between the paint and the prep bar to avoid scratching the paint during the prep process. The over spray sticks to the prep bar during this process, therefore eliminating it on the paint surface. The car must than be properly polished & glazed with a finial step of re sealing the paint and applying a good coat of carnauba wax. It is highly recommended to have a professional handle this type of problem!!!

What is fallout?
Fallout is airborne pollutants from all sorts of industrial pollution; it is often referred to as [industrial fallout] these are particles introduced into the air via industrial ventilation systems, aircraft fumes, and diesel fuel exhaust etc. These particles then float up into the air and bond together once the get too heavy they fall from the air and etch into the clear coat. Fallout looks like some one sprinkled pepper on your car. These little specs are of an active iron mineral, and if left on the car long enough will start a rusting process that can permanently damage the paint. Fallout is most evident on lighter color vehicles because of its dark color. The vehicles most affected by fallout are car exposed to the elements i.e.: vehicles that are parked out side frequently, or at airports, or in an industrial area for a long period of time.
Solution: Refer to over spray removal same technique. It is possible with a more aggressive prep bar, however it is highly recommended to have a professional handle this problem!!!

What are swirls?
Swirls are caused by a couple of different factors. One is improper buffing methods either the person buffing the car has used the wrong buffing pad or polish for the color, or kind of paint on the vehicle, or the technique of person buffing the car is not correct. Wiping the vehicle with an abrasive or dirty towel commonly causes bigger wipe like swirl marks. This is frequent in the "Do-It-Yourselfer" or at the mass car washes were the towels are used over and over. Darker color vehicles show the swirls more than the lighter colors, it has to do with the fact that the reflection of light is more intense off of the dark color vs. the lighter color vehicles. At Fx Pro Auto Salon, the staff is factory trained by product representative to insure the quality and know how to handle these problems.
Solution: A 2-3 stage buffing/polishing/glazing process can usually eliminate the swirl marks, however sometimes the swirls will be into the clear coat to deep, which would require color sanding. A method in, which the paint is lightly, sanded with a very fine sand paper and then polished out. [this process is not recommended for the "Do-It-Yourselfer"] or if you don't want to go to that extreme the swirls can be maintained by a frequent waxing that will fill them in.
What are surface scratches?
Surface scratches are tiny scratches in the clear coat or paint surface; a surface scratch does not go thru the clear coat or paint. Surface scratches are caused by a variety of things i.e.: rubbing up against the surface with anything sharp or abrasive, dragging things across the surface, boxes, brief case, shopping carts, bicycles, or from your kids playing around the car.
Solution: Depending on how deep the scratches are their are a variety of solutions, most common is to try to buff the scratches out with a 3 stage process. Which involves changing pads and compounds as you smooth out the surface. The other option is to color sand [usually if the scratches are very deep this method is optimum] This solution is highly recommended to be done by a professional!!!
